It's Happening at The Create Exchange

It's been an exciting week at The Create Exchange! I attended a very inspiring Visual Marketing workshop Wednesday morning and was lucky to have Main Street Iowa and Anna Woodward here in the store in the afternoon, to help us transform our window display. Anna showed us how to use color, repetition, and scale in the windows to create an eye-catching display. Volunteers Jessica Winkowski, Lauri Richards and Sheryl Layher, brought their crafting skills to the table. They framed fabric in hoops, wrapped yarn balls, and wove yarn and tulle onto bicycle wheels. The end result? A super fun, colorful and playful display that shows even using the simplest supplies, you can create beautiful art.

Special thanks to Jennifer Pruden and Cedar Rapids Main Street , Czech Village/ New Bohemia Historic Main Street District for bringing this wonderful event to us. Also, a huge thanks to our wonderful group of volunteers who gave up their time to help make this window display so beautiful.

Sunday August 7th marked our very first Share It on Sunday. We had some wonderful projects posted and I want to thank everyone that participated. Congratulations to our top 3:Alcohol Ink Art- Peg Adkins Robinson. Peg’s passion is mixed media art and it certainly shows in these beautiful images created with alcohol inks.Greeting Card- Stephanie Severin. Stephanie uses lovely colors, layers, and art to create a gretting card anyone would love to receive.Stay puft Man- Dana Groff. Dana used real and fake pumpkins plus a lot of imagination to create the Stay Puft man.
